NWNA to host school board candidates Oct. 11

The Northwest Cape Coral Neighborhood Association will hold a special meeting on Oct. 11, to include a forum among school board candidates.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. at the Mariner High School Auditorium.

The public is welcome.

The agenda will include:

6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Cecil Pendergrass, District 2 Lee County Commissioner, current Chairman of the Lee County Commissioners. A Republican, he is running for another term against Bill Taylor, no party affiliation.

Pendergrass will outline his accomplishments, what’s happening today and his plans for another term. The presentation will be followed by 30 minutes of questions from the audience.

7:30 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. The “survivors”?of the Lee County School Board primary races competing for the Cape Coral area School Board seats will be introduced. Given that the key issue across the board are the same, all candidates will be on stage together.

District 6 (districtwide) candidates: Nicholas Alexander and Betsy Vaughn

District 4 (parts of Cape Coral and North FortMyers) candidates: Don Armstrong and Debbie Jordan

Cape Coral voters cast ballots in both District 4 and 6. Attendees will hear from each candidate for five minutes followed by 30 minutes of questions and answers. Each candidate will have one minute to answer each question.

8:20 – 8:30 p.m. Meeting will be closed by John Jacobs, NWNA’s president.
