Voter registration deadline for General Election approaching
The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation is Oct. 9 for the Nov. 6 General Election.
State law requires that Florida residents be registered to vote or make a party affiliation change 29 days before an election. All registered voters may vote in a General Election regardless of party affiliation.
To register to vote, individuals must use a Florida Voter Registration application or the Online Voter Registration to submit an application or update an existing registration. To submit an online application, individuals will need their Florida driver license or identification card issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles. Visit the website at registertovoteflorida.gov.
Online registration has multiple safeguards in place to verify and protect a person’s identity and personal information. Those who would prefer not to utilize online registration can print out a blank Florida Voter Registration Application and return it in person at one of the four office locations, or by mail to Supervisor of Elections, P.O. Box 2545, Fort Myers, FL 33902.
Lee County voters can confirm their voter record in the “Voter Resources” tab at lee.vote by clicking “Check my Voter Registration Status” or call the Supervisor of Elections Office at 239-LEE-VOTE (533-8683). Questions regarding the eligibility of those who are not currently registered to vote may also be directed to these sources.
