Library pulls name of branch winner in Book Bingo for Adults drawing
One lucky person recently won a beach tote and more from the Captiva Memorial Library.
As part of the “Libraries Rock!” summer reading program, which ran May 29 to Aug. 11, the island branch took part in a systemwide activity called Book Bingo for Adults. Library patrons could pick up a “bingo card” and complete the listed tasks, winning up to three books for getting a row of “bingo.”
In addition, those who finished off all of the tasks were entered into drawing at the branch.
On Aug. 17, library staff pulled the name of the lucky winner.
Barbara Santullo, a long-time seasonal visitor to Captiva, received the prize pack.
“It’s one of our Captiva Memorial Library beach bags with a little raccoon painted on the front of it, riding a bicycle and reading a book,” Branch Manager Colleen Barany said.
In addition, she received three books – “The Liar” by Nora Roberts, “The Rooster Bar” by John Grisham and “Island Life: Inspirational Interiors” by India Hicks and David Flint Wood.
“I wanted to do some nonfiction, some fiction,” she said. “They’re all hardcovers.”
Barany explained that also included in the prize pack was some library swag, such as a library card-driver’s license-key holder, couple of pads of writing paper, and soup bowl with matching spoon.
She noted that the fun is not over yet.
“You have a second chance to win,” Barany said.
On Aug. 31, the Lee County Library System will draw a systemwide winner.
“Everyone who won the branch prizes it out,” she said.
The grand prize is an Amazon Fire HD tablet with Alexa, which was donated by OverDrive.
“I do know that over 1,000 people systemwide participated,” Barany said of the Book Bingo.
“We had like 25 people,” she added. “I’m happy that as many participated as did.”
The library is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information on a program, call 239-533-4890.
