Cape dancers to perform at Charlotte Stone Crabs game Monday
Charlotte Stone Crab Baseball Park is holding its first first “Intellectual and Developmental Disability Awareness Night” Monday, Aug. 27. The pregame show will feature Special Populations ballroom dancers Kristin Gleason and Katie Fumero, with their USA Dance coach Carol Davis.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the game due to start at 6:35 p.m. Between 5:30 and 5:50 p.m., the Stone Crabs players and coaches will be meeting with those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Gleason and Fumero and dance teams have danced for two Cape Coral mayors and will perform for Mayor Joe Coviello on Sept. 24 at their 7th year anniversary with USA Dance Ballroom special needs program. Other events include Fort Myers- Streets Alive; USA Dance black tie balls and chapter events; Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Days; and Rhythm in Motion Dance Studio “Summer Extravaganza Showcase.”
The young ladies will preform in dresses donated to them by Rhythm in Motion Dance Studio (Michaela Poole and Greg Kurth co-owners) in the Cape.
“Music is magic to their ears – they hear music and immediately want to dance!” The staff at Special Populations see many positive attitudes and self-confidence in the dancers.
