F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva to hold balance presentation
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva and Rachel Tritaik, of Island Therapy Center, will host a community lunch and learn presentation on Aug. 23 on “A Balancing Act: I Might Wobble, But I Won’t Fall Down!”
It will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel.
The workshop will address the environmental, situational and individual factors that contribute to falls, as well as offer tips to mitigate each factor and ways to improve balance reactions.
“Our community is full of very active people who walk, run, cycle and exercise,” F.I.S.H. Program Director Kathy Y. Monroe said. “However, outside our homes we seem to be more aware of safety precautions than inside our home and surrounding environment. You will leave this workshop knowing how reduce your chance of incidents, as well as how to handle them when they arise.”
The presentation is open to the public; lunch will be provided.
For more information or to RSVP, contact Monroe at 239-472-4775.
The Community House is at 2173 Periwinkle Way.
