Sanibel Recreation Center to close for annual maintenance

By Staff | Jul 24, 2018

The Sanibel Recreation Center will be closed from July 28 to Aug. 5 to complete numerous maintenance projects, with the facility set to reopen on Aug. 6.

Some of the improvements will include the resurfacing of gymnasium floor, preventative maintenance of the basketball hoop backstops and dividing wall, a deep cleaning of facility, replacement of the pool heating and cooling system, resealing of the restroom tile and preventative maintenance on equipment.

All major projects have been scheduled during this time in an effort to minimize the inconvenience to patrons as many of the projects are odiferous and disruptive.

The Youth Summer Camp program will not be offered the week that the facility is closed. Youth programming will resume with the Fun Days on Aug. 6-9 for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. The program operates from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Center 4 Life, at 2401 Library Way, offers fitness classes throughout the week that are included for Sanibel Recreation Center members and are only $7 for non-members.

Beach parking permits will be available for purchase from July 30 to Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center 4 Life. When applying for a permit, remember to bring a valid vehicle registration for each vehicle and a valid state issued identification or driver’s license. Payment may be made via cash, check, MasterCard, American Express or Visa.

For more information, call 239-472-0345 or visit www.mysanibel.com.

Daily, weekly, semi-annual and annual memberships are available at the center.
