Rotary Happenings: Consider joining island Rotary for something exciting and rewarding
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club is a growing organization with over 70 members, of which 10 are new members that have joined this year. The club also has about 20-plus snowbird members of other clubs throughout the country who attend the island meetings during the winter season in Florida.
Why are we growing and what can you benefit from by joining?
First, the club offers friendship and fellowship. We meet weekly every Friday at 7 a.m. at the Dunes Golf and Tennis Club for a hearty breakfast, fellowship and an interesting and stimulating speaker program.
The club provides services to the community, as well as to the international community as we are an international club represented in many countries. Members volunteer their time in providing services that are tailored to the individual desires of the members. This is perhaps the best reason to join Rotary: The chance to do something for somebody else and to sense the fulfillment that comes in the process and return of that satisfaction to one’s own life. It is richly rewarding as the motto states, “He profits most who serves the best.”
The club provides contributions to the local and international community by virtue of its fund-raising activities. This past year, it contributed over $100,000 to various benefactors.
The club provides leadership development; it is an organization of leaders and successful people.
Members have fun. Rotary is fun, lots of fun. Each meeting is fun. The club projects are fun. Social activities are fun.
