Free ‘Parks & Recreation Fun Day’ event at William Austen Youth Center Saturday

July is “National Park and Recreation Month,” and the Cape Coral Parks $ Recreation Department is hosting a free family event on Saturday to celebrate. This year’s “Parks and Recreation Fun Day” will be held at the Wm. Austen Youth Center on Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Open to all ages, the public will have a chance to learn about various Parks and Recreation divisions and community partners at one convenient location. Free activities will include an inflatable obstacle course and slide, carnival games, touch tanks, chair massages, daytime telescope viewing, a trackless train, photo booth, arts and crafts, character visits, a scavenger hunt, prize drawings and much more.

Everyone who attends will also receive a raffle ticket to enter the door prize drawing of their choice. Giveaways include tickets to Sun Splash Family Waterpark, golf at Coral Oaks Golf Course, passes to the Yacht Club Pool and Eagle Skate Park, kayaking at Eco Preserve, ballroom dancing and pickleball at Four Freedoms Park, Miracle Baseball tickets, an art kit from the Cape Coral Arts Studio, two remote-controlled boats donated by the Harbormaster, plus a wide variety of other options.

“Parks and Recreation Fun Day is the perfect opportunity for people to discover some of the terrific recreation programs and amenities Cape Coral has to offer,” said Kerry Runyon, director of Cape Coral Parks & Recreation. “We’re proud to present this free community event in celebration of National Park and Recreation Month and hope everyone will make plans to join us at the Youth Center this Saturday.”
