Sanibel Community Church’s H2O Youth Ministries held its year-end beach party on May 30 for its high schoolers to celebrate the end of the school year.

Due to rain, the event started off as a pizza party at the church campus. While the students enjoyed dinner and catching up with friends, the sun came out and the party was moved to Lighthouse beach.

Twenty-three teens and youth leaders burst onto the scene, full of excitement and ready to play volleyball. The teams were co-ed, mixed with students from five different schooled and the youth leaders. The group ended the night after two games, parting with final goodbyes.

The next H2O event will be a bonfire at Pastor Kevin Schafer’s home on June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.

H2O Youth Ministries is a youth program for sixth- through 12th-graders that meets on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. for middle-schoolers and from 6 to 8 p.m. for high-schoolers, as well as on Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon at Sanibel Community Church, at 1740 Periwinkle Way.

Students on the island and surrounding communities are welcome.
