City of Sanibel welcomes onboard two interns for the summer
The city of Sanibel welcomes summer interns Sydney Hummel and Connor Tomlinson.
Hummel and Tomlinson will be interning with City Manager Judie Zimomra and the city administration, working on an array of projects.
Tomlinson, who worked with the city last summer, returns to work with Zimomra.
“Last summer I learned a great deal from working with the highly professional and knowledgeable city staff. Not only did I learn how to effectively work in a team, but I also realized my professional potential as an individual,” he said. “This summer gives me an opportunity to build upon what I have learned over the last year.”
Tomlinson recently graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is also an honors graduate of Fort Myers High School and The Sanibel School.
Hummel will enter her sophomore year at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in the fall, where she is majoring in political science and perusing Spanish and Hispanic studies. She is a recent honors graduate of Canterbury School. Hummel plans to continue her education at law school.
“There is so much experience to be gained in learning how our local government works and the opportunity to help the community is something that will aid me in the future,” she said of the summer internship. “I am honored to be a part of the team.”
