Cape man among those charged with May 13 murder in Fort Myers
On Tuesday, May 15, the Fort Myers Police Department arrested five suspects in connection to the murder of Daryl D. Scott that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 13 The five suspects, one from Cape Coral, were arrested throughout the day at various locations by the Fort Myers Police Department.
According to the FMPD, those arrested included:
Taquan Ramel Brown, 27, of Fort Myers.
Mario Joel Benitez, 22, of Cape Coral.
Cheyenne Nicole Marron, 22, of Fort Myers.
Edey Emmanuel Cardenas, 21, of Fort Myers.
Roger Ludenas 21, of Fort Myers.
All five have been charged with second degree murder, attempted second degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
According to the FMPD, on May 13, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault at 322 Louise Ave. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found Scott , 32, suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to the report, officers secured the area and began CPR on the victim. Shortly afterwards, Lee County EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to Lee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The FMPD Crime Scene Unit responded and collected evidence and photographed the scene while detectives interviewed witnesses.
