The Sanibel School
Citizens of the Week
Kindergarteners and first-grade students earn Sea Horse tickets for good behavior, a helpful attitude and an eagerness to learn. Each week, the school selects a Sea Horse ticket winner from the classes. The winners get to select a prize from the prize cabinet. The following students are the recent Citizens of the Week: Essex Brodeur, Mason Fase, Cameron Lee and Gretta Livermon.
Students of the Month
The following middle school students are the Students of the Month for March: Mallory Howard, Othmane Martinez, Ethan Mathusa, Colin Menzel, Tye Robison and Max Vaughn.
Battle of the Books
The elementary Battle of the Books team will take part in a districtwide competition on May 5 at the Lee County School District building. The team is made up of Kate Doster, Ven Sampas, Summer Stewart, Tony Underwood and Luke Williams, along with alternates Une Jankauskaite and Miles Priestly. The team has been reading all year and preparing all semester.
Hosted by The Sanibel School PTA, the annual Seahorse Festival will be held on May 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sanibel Community Park, at 2231 Periwinkle Way. With a “taste” theme this year, it will feature local restaurants with foods, deserts and drinks. There will be several raffles and a silent auction, with beer and wine for purchase. Entertainment will provided by the band Wilder Sons, along with students performing skits. There will be games to play and an inflatables area. Tickets are $5 for adults, with $20 unlimited play wristbands for the inflatables area. Sponsorships are still available, as well as vendor space.
