Refuge to hold additional public meetings on Bailey Tract Restoration Project
The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge has scheduled additional public meetings on the Bailey Tract Restoration Project.
Due to the high level of public interest, the refuge will hold three meetings about the hydrologic restoration project at the tract. Plans for the project involve filling the Ani Pond, reconnecting wetland habitat and other hydrologic enhancements for the benefit of the Sanibel Island rice rat, marsh birds and other species dependent on Spartina marsh habitats.
The following meetings will be held at the refuge’s Visitor & Education Center:
– April 20 at 10 a.m.
– April 20 at 2 p.m.
– April 23 at 6 p.m.
The meetings will begin with a presentation, followed by an opportunity for the public comment.
