Friends of the Cape Coral Library sale starts Thursday

By Staff | Apr 12, 2018

If you’re an avid reader and looking to bolster your book collection, The Friends of the Cape Coral Library is gearing up for its annual spring book sale.

Taking place in the large meeting room at the Cape Coral Library, more than 8,000 books will be available for purchase, most priced at $2 or less.

Books, audio books, and DVDs will also be on sale at bargain rates.

You’ll never know what gems you might find, including beautiful art books, military and historical books, all available at diminished prices.

This fundraiser is vital to the continuation of support to the Cape Coral Regional Library from The Friends.

“We raise over $30,000 annually with those resources branching out to programs such as our Art Gallery, children’s programs, summer reading programs, and adult music programs,” said Bob Novander, Friends of Cape Coral Library book sales chairman.

Some other programs The Friends support include fun activities for youth, such as puppet shows, magicians, and balloon animals.

Many different events throughout the year such as the Earth Day coloring Contest, English Cafe, Books and Banter, and movies get the backing they need from these book sales.

“The Friends donated just shy of $7,000 for new furniture in the Youth/Teen reading section of the library, and also donated over $20,000 for a new sound and video room,” added Novander.

The members-only preview sale will be held Thursday, April 19, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the over 200 member Friends group. If you are not an affiliate, you may sign up at the door for an annual membership of $15, and this includes all members of your family.

Sales to the public will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 20 , and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 21.

No matter if you’re a book worm, or just enjoy a quiet read from time to time, this is a great opportunity to support your local library and get a great deal in the process.

The Cape Coral Public Library is at 921 SW 39th Terrace. Any further questions, or if you’d like to donate any books, you can call the Friends hotline at 349-2572.
