Jewel Jensen

The Captiva Island Historical Society recently welcomed Jewel Jensen to its board of directors.

Jensen has already jumped in with a positive energy and organizational skills to support the society’s activities. As a retired educator, she delights in doing research, then sharing her knowledge. Jensen said she is looking forward to working with the board “to preserve the rich history of Captiva Island.”

She is a member of the Sanibel Historical Preservation Committee and volunteers as a docent at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village and as a sea turtle monitor for the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation. Jensen has also volunteered as a shell ambassador at the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum.

Her family has visited Captiva and Sanibel for 25 years, from their home in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Jensen and her husband, Kevin, enjoy living now in their year-round home on the Islands.
