Man arrested after intentionally ramming vehicle head-on
A man was arrested Thursday night after battering a victim not only with his hands, but with a vehicle after he intentionally crashed into the victim’s car with his pickup truck, according to a report issued this afternoon by the Cape Coral Police Department.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. April 5, officers responded to the report of a serious injury crash at the 4800 block of Manor Court. The initial investigation determined that Donny Crecelius, 60, had intentionally crashed head-on into another vehicle. Police reported that detectives with the Major Crimes Unit responded and further determined that Crecelius had attempted to pull the victim from the car while beating on the victim. When he was unsuccessful, he drove down the street in his truck, turned around and purposely crashed head-on into the victim’s car causing serious injuries.
Major Crash Investigator D. Gray responded and conducted a thorough crash investigation parallel to the criminal investigation.
Both Crecelius and the victim were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries, Cape police said. Crecelius is under arrest and being guarded at a local hospital until he is able to be transported to the Lee County Jail. He has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon as well as burglary with battery.
