The Sanibel Captiva Art League will meet on April 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

Award-winning artist Wanda Kemper will be the guest speaker.

Wanda will critique members’ and visitors’ paintings, as she did last year.

“I’ve always been a ‘cup half full’ person, so my natural instinct is to focus on all the wonderful and positive aspects of a work of art. I can honestly say, there’s always something I can make a positive comment about,” she said. “After I compliment on what the artist has done well, I look for areas that ‘if it were my art, I would make these adjustments.'”

Members and visitors are invited to bring one painting each.

Kemper has over 40 years of experience as a professional artist, including as the owner and operator of an art studio, as a retouch artist for a photographic studio, as an artist and art director for a stained glass studio and as the former curator of the Blackhawk Gallery in Danville, California.

She has received multiple awards and honors.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
