By Staff | Apr 3, 2018

On Earth Day, set for April 22, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation will feature some solar ideas for a hurricane preparation box, along with a special presentation.

Guest speaker Anna Shork, co-founder of LuminAID, will present a program at 1:30 and 3 p.m. in the Nature Center about her experience lighting the dark corners of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

It is free, but reservations are suggested as seating is limited.

To register, visit “SCCF Earth Day Presentation” online at www.eventbrite.com.

In addition, attendees can fill out a brief survey to be entered into a drawing to win one of the new waterproof LuminAID inflatable lanterns, along with a larger solar panel to charge cell phones.

The Lee County Electric Cooperative purchased 100 of them for the giveaway.

The program is sponsored by the Donald Slavik Family Foundation.

The Nature Center is at 3333 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel.
