City’s annual hurricane seminar set for Thursday

The city of Sanibel will host its 2018 Hurricane Seminar on April 5 at 11 a.m. at BIG ARTS.

The city conducts the annual event to educate residents, property owners and businesses on severe tropical weather. The seminar is free and reservations are not required.

The format will focus on the city’s experiences last year with Hurricane Irma, and includes:

– Dave Roberts, the city’s weather consultant, will provide weather-related information

– Department directors will discuss their department’s actions before, during and after the storm

– A question-and-answer session

Hurricane passes will be available at the conclusion of the seminar. Passes may also be obtained Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sanibel Police Department at Sanibel City Hall, Second Floor, 800 Dunlop Road.
