Spring Trunk Show at Lily & Co. Jewelers to feature Steven Mazza
Steven Mazza will take part in the Spring Trunk Show on March 29-31 at Lily & Co. Jewelers.
Attendees will enjoy colorful hand-crafted pieces and a change to meet the designer.
“We are pleased to host Steven and the Mazza Spring Trunk Show,” Dan Schuyler, who owns Lily & Co. with Karen Bell, said. “Pieces by Mazza are always inspired by nature, or nature derived, whether it be from coral, shells, or pearl, or by creating design from a natural architectural element such as a shell’s shape.”
A fifth-generation jeweler, Mazza has long known the beauty of natural shells, like the ones strewn on the beaches of Sanibel. They are often incorporated into his collections.
“It crosses demographics, from young to old, in the same way people are drawn to the sea,” he said.
Mazza focuses on color, as well, so pieces are not trendy to the point of in one season and out the next.
“A few years ago, we introduced wood to the line – ebony, rosewood and zebra wood – to make something unexpected in jewelry,” he said. “We strive to keep things in their natural state for very colorful jewelry a woman can wear to express her individual personality.”
The Mazza family’s legacy in the jewelry industry dates back nearly two centuries with coral and conch shells, which were harvested and hand carved in a small town near Naples, Italy. Founder Louis Mazza left Europe at the turn of the century to import gems and Mazza carvings to the United State. In the 1940s and 1950s, his four sons joined him as the business grew.
Today, third son William is joined by his three sons, including Steven Mazza.
Lily & Co. Jewelers is at 520 Tarpon Bay Road.
