America does not ‘purge’

By Staff | Jan 3, 2018

To the editor:

I would like to submit a letter I just sent to my Congressman, Francis Rooney, for public consideration:

“In regard to the interview you gave on MSNBC Dec. 26, 2017), I must tell you I am appalled by some of your paranoia and, especially, by your advocating a “purge” of a government agency. This is still the USA! The word “purge” stirs images of ethnic cleansing, mass assassinations, wholesale firings and banishment. We do not “purge” anything. Just because people have their own legitimate opinions, does not mean they acted wrongly. Due process still applies. I would hope that you will revisit your position and suggest something more measured and statesmanship-like. It’s what I expect of my elected officials.”
