Community House hosting Fish Fry

By Staff | Dec 20, 2017

Due to the outpouring from the community, another Fish Fry will be held next week to bring family, friends and neighbors together for some mingling at the Community House.

Sanibel Community Association Executive Director Teresa Riska-Hall said last April the Fish Fry was so well received that they have decided to hold something every couple of months.

“It’s a great time to be with your friends and neighbors and celebrate the holidays. It’s about the opportunity for the community to get together and socialize,” she said. “Being from Wisconsin, fish frys were a part of my upbringing. I have never had fish as fantastic as Jarred’s.”

The next Fish Fry will be held from 5-7 p.m., or until the food runs out, Friday, Dec. 29, at the Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. It is $15 per person for the fish fry dinner, which includes Chef Jarred Harris’ Point Ybel beer battered cod, tropical jicama salad and yucca fries. The Minnows Menu, for kids 12 and under, is a mac and cheese dinner with no fish, for $5. There will be lemonade, iced tea and a cash bar available for beverages.

Riska-Hall said dessert and coffee will be served following the dinner by donation in the lobby.

Tickets can be purchased at the Community House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, through Friday, or at Bailey’s General Store customer service counter. A maximum of 300 tickets will be sold.

Food, she said, has always been a part of the Community House, even in the early days when people gathered to listen to the radio, while enjoying coffee and tea and something to eat.

In addition to the fish fry, the last day of the 9 Hole Indoor Mini Golf Course will conclude Friday, Dec. 29. It opens Tuesday, Dec. 26 and is open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. It is $3 per round of golf.

Riska-Hall said sponsorships, $250, and hole sponsors of $500, are still available for the golf course. With each sponsorship, 20 free rounds of golf will be provided.
