A canine-friendly event set for Thursday will help raise funds for a Cape Coral dog rescue.
Hosted by Eva by the Sea, Dog Daze will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Shops at Marina Village, at 5971 Silver King Blvd. The event falls under the umbrella of the monthly Sundown Stroll, held every third Thursday at Tarpon Point, with the goal of raising awareness for a charitable cause.
“Educate, donate, appreciate,” Linda Ebersberger, owner of Eva by the Sea, said.
Free and open to the public, Dog Daze will feature dog experts and trainers, information about dog adoptions and rescues, and a Tail Waggin’ informational booth. Pet vendors will also be on hand.
Proceeds from the event will go to Bo Nose Rescue, a rescue and rehabilitation organization.
Ebersberger is hoping to raise at least $1,000 for the group.
“All their kennels were destroyed during Irma,” she said, adding that she is a dog lover herself and has a toy poodle named Reyna. “This is dear to my heart – I just felt that it was a very worthy cause.”
Bo Nose Rescue will have some rescue dogs, and it will do a training demonstration.
“We’re hoping Bo will actually be here,” Ebersberger said of the organization’s namesake.
Friendly dogs on leashes are welcome to come out.
A dog photo booth, along with props, will be set up; donations will be accepted.
There will be live music, along with a raffle basket valued at over $1,000.
“Which will contain gifts from all of us at the shops,” she said.
One of the items in the basket is a two-night stay at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, along with gift certificates to the local boutiques, restaurants and shops, even boat cruise tickets.
“Those raffle tickets are on sale now,” Ebersberger said.
The tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20; the winner will be picked Thursday.
“They don’t have to be present,” she said.
In addition, Dog Daze will feature Wicked Dolphin Rum and Stacole Fine Wine tastings. Gather, the newest restaurant on the Tarpon Point Marina’s promenade, will also offer beer and wine tastings.
“Lobster Lady will have a little presentation of giveaways of food,” Ebersberger said.
There will be a barbecue food truck and something for man’s best friend.
“The Nauti Mermaid has a doggie menu on their menu,” she said.
Attendees are urged to bring food items to be donated to the Cape Coral Caring Center.
“We are collecting canned goods,” Ebersberger said.
