Military jewelry accidentally sold with garage sale handbag
A Cape Coral woman is appealing to the garage-sale community after she accidentally sold her husband’s military jewelry and a pair of earrings with great sentimental value along with a designer purse.
In a frantic haste to pack up in the approach of Hurricane Irma, Christine Tidwell secured her husband’s Marine Corp. ring, his military ID bracelet, and a pair of amethyst post earrings in an Aigner designer purse.
Then, faced with home repairs, including roofing work, ceiling replacement and yard cleanup, she held a garage sale post-storm.
Among the items priced low to go?
That Aigner bag with its unintended cargo, picked up for $5, a buck less than its $6 price tag, at the sale held in the 2600 block of Southwest 27th Street on Oct. 28.
Having discovered her mistake, Mrs. Tidwell is now hoping beyond hope the woman who bought the purse will call her and return the jewelry, especially the ring and bracelet that mark the service of her war vet husband, who served in both Korea and Vietnam.
Mrs. Tidwell can be reached at 239-945-1747.
