LIFEwalk Cape Coral steps off at Jaycee Park this Saturday
Lifeline Family Center will hold its annual LIFEwalk Cape Coral walkathon at Jaycee Park this Saturday.
The fund raiser will start at 7:45 a.m. with participants enjoying coffee and a continental breakfast. LIFEwalk will then step off at 8:45 a.m. for a triple loop around the riverfront park.
Family activities, including face painting, bounce houses and slides, as well as prizes and live music, will follow with money raised to benefit Lifeline Family Center.
“This year celebrates the seventh annual Walk For Life,” said Ashleigh Chevalier, Lifeline Family Center spokesperson. “We are grateful to serve God and serve others at Lifeline Family Center, and this walk celebrates lives saved, lives thriving, and victory. This walk shows young pregnant women and their children they are not alone, we believe in them, their community believes in them, and God loves them. He loves all of us.”
For a suggested donation of $25, participants in LIFEwalk Cape Coral will receive coffee and breakfast and a LIFEwalk Cape Coral T-shirt. Four-legged friends are welcome to join the walk for an additional donation of $10.
“We grow every year,” Chevalier said. “Last year we had a record-breaking 350 attendees. This is a family friendly, pet friendly, all ages celebration. If you aren’t feeling up for the walk, bring a lawn chair and enjoy the Gulfside Church Praise Band.”
Participants can register at the event.
All proceeds will go to benefit Lifeline Family Center’s Education and Counseling Program as well as the residential program, which is available to pregnant women between the ages of 16 and 25.
“LIFEwalk is a unique legacy event in Cape Coral and Lee County,” Chevalier said. “It brings Life Lovers from all different parts of the community together in love and support for a great mission. LIFEwalk enables Lifeline to help young women with traumatic pasts and no support redirect their lives, building their lives on core values, empowered with education, and blossoming with love.
“LIFEwalk, first, is a celebration for life,” Chevalier said. “Lifeline Family Center hosts LIFEwalk because we do not rely on or accept any local, state, or national government funding. Funds raised at LIFEwalk (and our Spring Benefit Dinner) provide residential, education, counseling, and childcare programs for young pregnant single mothers.”
Serving Lee County for 21 years, Lifeline Family Center offers hope, housing, and guidance to single pregnant mothers and their children. Lifeline Family Center also provides education and career opportunities to young mothers.
From the Lifeline Family Center website: A young woman coming to Lifeline Family Center is given the gift of hope by providing her a home, scholarship opportunities, and child care while she purses education for a career. This allows her to become self-supporting.
Lifeline Family Center, at 907 S.E. 5th Ave., is dedicated to maintaining the current residence for 12 women and 24 children and, in the future, offering transition housing to serve as a pattern for other maternity homes in other locations.
