Marlene Helen Nicholas
Marlene Helen Nicholas was born April 7, 1937 in Fountain Hill, PA to the late Chester B. and Quedell Nicholas. Marlene graduated from Emmaus High School in 1955 and attended Skidmore College, where she graduated with a BSN in Nursing in 1959. She continued her education at University of North Carolina and received a Masters of Public Health in 1966.
Marlene then moved to New Haven, CT and worked at the Visiting Nurses Association of New Haven. She retired from Griffin Hospital in 1999 as Nurse Manager of Clinics and Employee Health. While in Connecticut, she resided in New Haven from 1968 to 2004. After retirement, she moved to Sanibel Island, Florida.
Marlene was active in the WOW (Women of Worth) Wednesday Night Dinner Group. She also volunteered at the Rauschenberg Gallery on the campus of Edison State University. Marlene was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and its choir from 2004 until her passing. She regularly attended a weekly Bridge group as well.
Marlene was predeceased by her partner Elizabeth A. Daubert of 35 years who passed January 1, 2003. She is survived by her brother, Donald Nicholas and wife, Sandra; nephew and niece, Christopher Nicholas (Lynn) and Angela Dillman (Brian); great nieces Lillian and Paige Nicholas and Nichole and Natalie Karol.
All are welcome to celebrate Marlene’s life at a memorial service at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church at 15840 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers, Florida.
Marlene’s ashes will be scattered at sea during a private ceremony with family.
