It’s that time again. Dust off your toe-tapping flip flops for the upcoming 4th Annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest. Who can resist this popular event filled with dozens of star-studded performers set to play against our tropical island backdrop?

This unique festival takes place over 10 days, Sept. 22 through Oct. 1, on Southwest Florida’s most beautiful barrier islands and offers a range of memorable performances.

Hear singer-songwriters who have penned No. 1 hits for such artists as Jake Owen, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Celine Dion and Ariana Grande.

“Each year we get more talent and create more exciting events for the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest,” said Tamara Pigott, executive director of the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “This popular festival offers fans the rare opportunity to hear the stories behind the songs in small, intimate venues.”

The Fest is presented by BMI, iHeartMedia, Cat Country 107.1, and The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau. These sponsors have scheduled 82 songwriters and 21 unique venues music fans can flock to on Captiva Island, historic downtown Fort Myers or right here on Fort Myers Beach.

“We look forward to surprising fans with some high-profile acts,” said Louis Kaplan, iHeartMedia, Sr. VP Programming. “The Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is one of our favorite events of the year.”

They are rocking it out this year with 155 performances, 21 Venues (eight on Captiva, six in Downtown Fort Myers, seven on Fort Myers Beach) and three headliner acts: Lindsay Ell & Brooke Eden are playing in Downtown Fort Myers on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Pinchers at the Marina at Edison Ford and RaeLynn is performing at the Pink Shell Resort & Marina. Join in the fun at the Island Hopper RaeLynn Pool party on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Pink Shell Marina at 275 Estero Blvd. Much anticipated RaeLynn’s top hits include “God Made Girls” and “Love Triangle.” You may recall that “God Made Girls” was a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Raelynn has also worked with so many superstars in country music. She performed “Lie,” co-written by Miranda Lambert. She also sang background vocals for Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here.”

“RaeLynn will be the exclamation point on 10 days of incredible artists at this year’s Songwriter Festival,” said Kaplan. “We’re so excited to bring in all this talent to our islands.”

Tickets are $20 and the doors open at noon, the show starts at 1 p.m. The Festival staff are not permitting coolers, chairs, or reentries. It will be a standing room only event but they will have chairs available to rent.

Most of the 155 events are free, with the exception of a few ticketed events that have a nominal fee associated with them. Be sure and check out the special beverages and food and souvenirs that will be available all over the islands. You can’t beat the up close and personal vibe created at our local businesses that are hosting these talented acts.
