Division of Army National Guard arrives to assist FMPD

The Fort Myers Police Department welcomed the arrival of the Army National Guard unit B Co, 2-124th INF, 53rd IBCT. These citizen soldiers have arrived ready to assist the FMPD with traffic control, public safety, security and recovery from the effects of Hurricane Irma.

Eighty-nine members of the Guard unit arrived this afternoon and immediately started coordinating assignments with FMPD command officers. The unit is one of several who will be assisting law enforcement and governmental agencies throughout Southwest Florida.
