United Way Volunteer Center Hurricane Irma volunteer update

By Staff | Sep 12, 2017

The United Way Volunteer Center is working with Lee County to identify agencies and areas where volunteers can help should the need arise. As United Way learns of opportunities, it will post them on its website and/or social media:

Facebook: United Way LHGO

United Way Volunteer Center: 239.433.2000 option 9

Until that time United Way is asking people to not self-deploy.

The greatest need at this time is monetary donations. The SWFL Hurricane Irma Relief Fund has been established in partnership with the United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee Counties in cooperation with Lee County Emergency Management, Lee County Human & Veterans Services, and a network of nonprofits. People can select which of the counties they want to earmark for their donation or they can just make a general donation.

Visit www.floridacommunity.com or text GIVESWFL to 444999. One-hundred percent will be given to serve those affected and gifts are tax deductible.

For storm related information, call United Way 211 by dialing 2-1-1 or 239-433-3900 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
