Lee schools closed through Friday

By Staff | Sep 11, 2017

Lee County Schools and District Offices will be closed through Friday, Sept. 15.

Many schools are still being used as shelters, and many of students’ families and employees need time to make it back to Southwest Florida after evacuating from Hurricane Irma, officials said in a release issued Monday.

“This will also provide time for cleanup and repair of our homes, schools and community,” the release states.

The district plans to reopen schools and district offices on Monday, Sept. 18.

“We are thankful this hurricane was not as destructive as was first predicted, but know some do have damage and repairs,” the release states. “We are thinking of you. Please continue to be safe during the cleanup process and your travels home.”
