Breakfast is arguably one of the best meals of the day, especially on the weekend. The restaurants below offer everything from sauteed gator to your basic bacon and eggs. What’s better? Most of the restaurants serve breakfast well into the afternoon.

* Lighthouse Cafe

Mike Billheimer, owner of Lighthouse Cafe, said one of the things that has contributed to his 30 years of success on the island is consistency.

“Location has a lot to do with it but also consistency with staff. Many of them have been here for 20-plus years,” Billheimer said. “We’ve had many generations of customers keep coming back.”

Some of Billheimer’s most popular breakfast items are his french toast, eggs benedict and hot cakes. In season, he said he serves on average, over 600 plates a day for breakfast. Call ahead seating is always recommended. Breakfast is served everyday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call (239) 472-0303 or go to lighthousecafe.com.
