Sanibel youth are invited to submit a handmade bookmark depicting a specific theme for a contest MacIntosh Books & Paper is holding to find the most creative design to be given out this tourist season.

“MacIntosh has been part of the community since 1960, so it only makes sense to have a local child design a bookmark,” MacIntosh Books and Paper Manager Rebecca Binkowski said. “I’m hoping for lots of submissions and making it an annual event.”

Youngsters, ages 12 and younger, are tasked with the challenge of creating a 2 1/2 by 6 1/2-inch bookmark showcasing the theme “Books are Magic.” The original designed bookmark must be dropped off in person, or mailed to MacIntosh Books & Paper, 2330 Palm Ridge Road, Suite 6, Sanibel, FL 33957. Deadline for submissions is Sunday, Oct. 15.

The bookmark deemed the best design will receive a prize package including a $50 MacIntosh Books & Paper gift certificate. The winning bookmark will be posted on the MacIntosh website, www.MacIntoshBooks.com, on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The best design will be printed and turned into a bookmark, which will be given away with the purchase of children’s books beginning November, and continue through May 2018, or until supplies run out.

“It’s the chance to showcase your talent and put your design out there for thousands to see,” Binkowski said. “Be creative and show us why books are magic to you.”
