Cape police respond to report of attempted bank robbery

Today at approximately 12:20 p.m., the Cape Coral Police Department responded to an attempted bank robbery at the 5/3 Bank at 114 Hancock Bridge Parkway. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival, and a Ping4alert! was sent warning citizens in the area.

According to the CCPD, the suspect passed a note demanding money, and left the scene after the bank manager refused to give him any. No weapons were displayed.

The suspect is believed to be a white male between 28-35 years of age, between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-3 in height, possibly 150-170 pounds. He has brown hair, while his eye color is unknown. He wore a blue and white plaid button-down long-sleeve shirt, baggy blue jeans, a Detroit Tigers ball cap and black framed glasses.

The suspect was driving a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, possibly bearing a specialty license plate. The numbers on the plate were covered by the suspect, the police said
