For the first time in many years, the San Cap Art League will hold its “Buy It Off The Wall” show at BIG ARTS June 12 through July 25.

The show, which began last week, features 61 pieces of art from 17 different local artists. Mediums include pastels, watercolors, pen and ink, oils, acrylics and 2D.

“There’s a variety of different styles – from objective to subjective,” said Lauren Huff, executive assistant at BIG ARTS. “BIG ARTS is happy to have San Cap Art League here. It’s great that BIG ARTS can continue to work with the community and these local artists. We have a lot of visitors here in June and July and when they’re here they just want to see something local and I think San Cap Art League brings that here with their exhibit which is the culture of the islands.”

The beauty of the show is that the buyer can take the piece and bring it home with them that day, making it a perfect souvenir for those who are just visiting.

“That’s how easy it is,” said Anita Force Marshall, vice president of the San Cap Art League. “‘Buy It Off The Wall’ is very important to me. The visitors who come to Sanibel should really check out our show. They can come in, take a look around and pick out something that they won’t see anywhere else because this is all original art. It is the artist’s perception of Sanibel and their surroundings.”

The show will take place at BIG ARTS’ Phillips Gallery. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.

“I’d like to thank Lauren (Huff) and BIG ARTS for letting the San Cap Art League exhibit this summer and we hope that it happens again,” Marshall said.
