Reward increased for Upper Captiva arsons
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying the person, or persons, involved in an Upper Captiva burglary that ended with two structures being destroyed by fire.
Members of the Upper Captiva Fire Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the blaze, located at 11441 Peguan Shores, just before midnight on June 10. Investigators determined that both buildings had been broken into, then intentionally set on fire. During their search of the residences, a ladder was found near the front window of one of the residences, which the suspect(s) used to gain entry. In addition, several opened bottles of alcohol and food were found within the home and numerous items had been stolen. One of the structures was deemed to be a total loss, with major damage to the second.
In hopes of getting information on the person or persons responsible for the arsons, an anonymous donor is offering an additional $500 reward for any anonymous tip that leads to an arrest.
Anyone with information on the person or persons responsible for the burglary and fire is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers and $500 from the anonymous donor.
