A Cape Coral woman was hospitalized Monday following a traffic crash in Hardee County.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Lainey Holt, 25, was driving a Nissan Xterra eastbound on state Route 66 on Monday at 4:20 p.m. and approaching Clifton Bryan Road. Also traveling eastbound in front of Holt’s vehicle was a Mitsubishi Eclipse, being driven by Daphne Agular, 24, of Frostproof.

Holt traveled into the westbound lane in an attempt to overtake Agular in a permitted passing zone.

Agular then began to turn left onto Clifton Bryan Road from state Route 66 and turned into Holt’s path. The left front of the Mitsubishi collided with the right front side of the Nissan, according to the FHP.

Holt was flown to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Neither Agular nor her passenger, Dustin King, 25, of Frostproof, were injured in the accident.

Holt’s status was unknown as of Tuesday.

The FHP reported that Agular was cited for failing to yield right of way when making left turn.
