CCPD continues search for hit-and-run driver
Cape Coral police continue to search for the driver in a hit-and-run accident over the weekend.
At approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a man found lying in the roadway with severe injuries in the 1700 block of Northwest 18th Terrace. He has been identified as Michael Christian Park, 18, of 1730 N.W. 18th Terrace. Park was conscious but he was unresponsive, according to the report.
He had “injuries consistent with (a) motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash,” it stated.
Park was trauma-alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Hospital officials reported on Tuesday that he is not in their patient directory.
Park’s condition was unknown as of press time.
According to police, Park was walking eastbound along Northwest 18th Terrace between 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. when a vehicle also traveling eastbound struck him. The involved vehicle left the area.
A motorist driving by discovered Park lying in the road and called 911.
Video surveillance of the street shows a light-colored Kia Soul headed eastbound on Northwest 18th Terrace in the area where Park was walking around the time of the accident, officials reported. The suspect vehicle has possible damage to the right front and side sections, with possible hood damage.
It is unknown if the accident is alcohol or drug related.
