Man wanted for questioning in child’s disappearance in custody; child still missing
A man wanted for questioning in the disappearance of a Fort Myers girl is in custody but the child is still missing.
Jorge Guerrero, 28, was located early Saturday morning and is being detained, but Diana Alvarez, 9, was not found with him, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a release issued Saturday.
Lee County Sheriff Office detectives, along with agencies working to find Diana, tracked Guerrero down in a neighboring county, officials said.
“Locating Guerrero did not resolve the case as Diana was not with him,” the release states.
“Investigative teams remain deployed while we communicate with a host of Agencies as this investigation continues. While we appreciate and are thankful for the general public and media’s interest in this heart wrenching case, Diana’s safety is paramount. We will not get ahead of ourselves in this active investigation by putting out too much, too soon, jeopardizing her safe return. Further updates will be made available whenever possible.”
Diana was last seen asleep early Sunday morning in her San Carols Park home.
