Lee Memorial Health System announces new chief medical officer
Scott Nygaard, MD, MBA, has been promoted to Chief Medical Officer of Lee Memorial Health System. Nygaard will provide strategic focus and direction for clinical effectiveness and the integration of physician leadership across the health system.
Nygaard has been with Lee Memorial Health System since 2010, serving as chief medical officer/physician services & network development

Prior to joining Lee Memorial Health System, Nygaard served as the senior vice president for Corporate Services at Via Christi Health System in Wichita, Kan., where he had responsibility for human resources, supply chain, quality, outreach services, legal services, compliance, information technology and physician relations. He also served at Affinity Health System in Appleton, Wis., where he served as the CMO responsible for Affinity Medical Group (a 230 physician multispecialty group practice), community physician relations and medical management for Network Health Plan.

Nygaard is a Minnesota native who received his Bachelor of Science from Hamline University, St. Paul, Minn. He attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn. and graduated in 1987. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis, Minn. in 2004.
