South Cape International Beer Fest set for Saturday
A dozen bars and restaurants in downtown Cape Coral will be linked by a trolley service on Saturday for the South Cape International Beer Fest.
Unlimited trolley rides among the participating establishments come with the purchase (must be at least 21) of event tickets at $15 in advance or $20 at the event, hosted for the third year by the South Cape Hospitality & Entertainment Associations.
“The goal is simple,” said Pamela Hazelton of SCHEA. “It’s to introduce people to the entertainment district and keep Cape thriving. We do a lot of events each year and it helps us create more events.”
The participating establishments offer appetizer and international beer samples during the evening from 7 to 11 p.m. Patrons can also enjoy regular features at each bar, such as billiards, darts, karaoke and live music.
“We can handle up to 1,000 people, but we are expecting between 800 to 1,000,” said Hazelton.
There are two locations for event and trolley check-in at Big John’s Plaza and Club Square behind Backstreets Sports Bar. Remaining tickets will be sold at the check-in points, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at any of the participating establishments. Designated driver tickets are only available in advance at Backstreets.
“Designated drivers pledge not to drink alcohol, but can still sample the appetizers,” said Lynn Pippenger of SCHEA. “The event has grown each year. It gives people the opportunity to find new places downtown they might not have known about.”
It is recommended that participants park their car near the establishment where they plan to finish the tour.
Participating establishments, each choosing the international beer and appetizer they will serve, include Backstreets Sports Bar, Dixie Roadhouse; Cape Coral Brewing Co., Cruiser’s Lounge, Monkey Bar, No. 3 Craft Brews Beer Bar, Rack’em Billiards, Ralph’s Place, Rockade, Tiki Hut, Tubby’s City Hangout and Two Amigos.
