5th Annual Water Safety Day May 7

The Cape Coral Police Department, Cape Coral Fire Department and Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department have partnered with a number of companies and organizations from the community for the 5th Annual Water Safety Day to be held Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Cape Coral Yacht Club pavilion.

The departments’ goal is to promote all aspects of water safety in the community. The program is targeted toward children and parents, in an effort to educate them in a fun and interesting way. There will be classes, demonstrations and prizes. Vendors will also be on site to help meet families’ safety needs. Activities include:

– CPR Demonstration

– Jet Ski Safety Demo

– Spinal Back Boarding /Rescue Unconscious Victim Demo

– Sun Safety

– Safety Precautions Around the Pool

– Kiddie Fingerprinting

– Life Jacket Fittings/Giveaways

– Drowning Prevention

– Rescue Dive Gear Demo

– “Passport Cards” to be completed at each table where kids learn a water safety lesson

– Prizes and Giveaways (Poster Contest/Passport Card Winners/Raffle for free swim lessons)
