By Staff | Feb 25, 2016

Tyler Feichthaler, a 4th grader at Oasis Elementary School in Cape Coral, has been selected by the National Geographic Society as one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2016 Florida National Geographic State Bee. The state contest will be at Jacksonville University Friday, April 1.

Tyler is the son of Eric and Mary Feichthaler, Cape Coral.

This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition, which is now in its 28th year. School Bees are held to determine each school champion in schools throughout the state with fourth- through eighth-grade students. School champions then take an online qualifying test. The National Geographic Society has invited up to 100 of the top-scoring students in each of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Department of Defense Dependents Schools and U.S. territories to compete in the state Bees.

Oasis Elementary is one of four schools in the City of Cape Coral’s Charter School System. The charter school system also includes Christa McAuliffe Elementary, Oasis Middle and Oasis High schools.
