Say thanks to the traffic officers
To the editor:
I think we owe a lot of gratitude to the Officers standing out there at Casa Ybel (Jerry’s) and The Causeway.
It’s not a job I would like.
But, I’m glad they do it, and do it so well. The rains came, and they were there. The tourists came and they were there.
Just think about you directing traffic in one of the heavy downpours, with impatient tourists stuck in bumper to bumper traffic.
I imagine how many fender benders or more serious accidents they’ve prevented, compared to if we are on own coming out of Jerry’s or out there trying to get on the Causeway.
How about if a lot of us Islanders wind down our car windows and yell a loud, “Thanks, thanks” every time we pass one of the Guards. I’m on my bike most days, and when I get to Casa Ybel, I wait. When the Officer says, “Bikes, ok,” I always say, “Thanks for keeping us alive.”
I truly am grateful. If you are, wave them a “Thanks.”
