How COTI really works
To the editor:
Recently one of your readers wrote in a letter to the editor that he was not renewing his membership in Committee of the Islands.
We always regret losing a member, but we are happy to report that it is against the trend of COTI’s dramatic growth over the past few years.
Our membership since 2013 has increased by 60 percent. And our Digital Outreach – people who have opted in to receive COTI’s digital messages by providing us with their email addresses – has more than quintupled, from fewer than 300 to more than 1500, which is the equivalent of one out of every four permanent Sanibel residents.
We are very grateful for this support.
In our continuing efforts to keep supporters informed and involved, we have recently published reports on several issues of interest to the Sanibel community.
These include water quality, traffic updates, shared use path safety, and, in the near future, architectural standards for resort accommodations.
On every issue we receive valuable feedback. With action alerts, our members’ views are shared with City Council.
For a broader understanding of COTI’s activities, and to meet and talk with COTI leaders, come to our annual meeting on Wednesday, March 30, 9:30 a.m. in the Community House.
We hope to see you there!
