Everyone loves a good garage sale and the Center 4 Life has the best and biggest one of them all on Sanibel Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Center 4 Life “Trash to Treasure” sale committee has been collecting donated items since last February and is ready to unveil them all to the public, at bargain basement prices, Nov. 14.

“We have something for everyone,” said sale committee member Mary Ann Gilhooley. “We collected literally thousands of items for it.”

The annual event is organized by the Island Seniors Inc. volunteers at the Center 4 Life.

Donations start being dropped off in early February and collections are accepted up through Nov. 14. The volunteers have been busy organizing and pricing the items, which 100-percent of the proceeds will go to the Center 4 Life, which helps pay for programs such as kayaking, aerobics, computers, arts and crafts.

Through the years, the most popular items purchased has been furniture, as well as kitchenware, sporting goods and pictures.

“You name it, we’ll have it,” said volunteer Dorothy Sawyer. “We price the items depending on the condition it is in. Sometimes we get used items, but as well as new items.”

Sometimes they are repeat items, as well.

“Once we sold a big alligator mounted on a board and it was brought back in the next year, and we sold it again,” Gilhooley said.

“We always have a good bargain for everyone,” said volunteer Carole Fallon. “There also will be hot dogs and chips available during the sale, too.”

The sale will be inside the Center 4 Life facility, located at 2401 Library Way. For more information, call 239-472-5743.
