The investigation began after the girl confided to her mother that she had been inappropriately touched by Wayt “on several occasions,” the release states. Due to the nature of the case, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation.

The girl told detectives the first incident occurred in the bathroom when Wayt was urinating with the door open and he asked her to touch him. In a separate incident, the girl said Wayt touched her inappropriately while in her mother’s bedroom.

“During an interview with Wayt, detectives were able to corroborate what the victim had told them and develop evidence that Wayt was responsible for several sex crimes,” the release states, adding Wayt was arrested.
