James Hermes, 74, of Naples, FL, formerly of Sanibel Island, FL and Youngstown, Ohio passed away in his home on June 5, 2015. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a kind, caring, fun loving, and generous person, and will be missed by all who knew him. Jim was born to Lucille and Al Hermes in Youngstown, Ohio on May 2, 1941. He pursued a career in banking, and served in the Ohio National Guard. He married Juanita (Heckman) Hermes on August 14, 1971. They moved from Ohio to Sanibel, Florida in 1971. They had two sons, Gregory and Michael. He organized Sanibels first commercial bank, Bank of the Islands, in 1974, serving as President and CEO until retiring in 1985. During his banking career, he served on the Board of the Federal Reserve and was actively involved within the local Sanibel Community. Upon his retirement, he resided in Naples, FL and Kiawah, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, sons Gregory of Naples, FL, Michael of Cape Coral, FL, and grandchildren, Zander, Stevie, and Zackary, his sister, Patricia Morris of Poland, Ohio, his brother, Robert Hermes of Orlando, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Nancy Norris of Youngstown, and Beverly Sisek of Boardman, Ohio. A funeral Mass will be held at Catholic Church of the Resurrection, Ft.
