Teen injured after falling from hood of moving car
A teenage girl was critically injured Friday night after striking her head in a fall from the hood of a moving car.
The 16-year-old slide from the slowly moving vehicle traveling north in the 500 block of Northwest 16 Place at 7:30 p.m. when the car made a left turn. The girl’s foot caught under the right front tire and she struck her head on the roadway, suffering a “life threatening” injury, according to a prepared statement issued by the Cape Coral Police Department Saturday.
The vehicle came to an immediate stop and police were called, officials said, adding both the driver and passenger were also 16-year-old girls.
The injured teen was transported as a trauma alert patient to a local hospital where she was listed in critical but stable condition in the Critical Care Unit Saturday, officials said.
Neither the driver nor her passenger were injured.
The names of the teens have not been released.
The crash is not alcohol or drug related and there are no criminal charges pending, police said.
Due to injuries, case pending further follow-up.
