A Wednesday crash killed two Cape Coral residents and sent another two to the hospital.

Susan Burns, 70, and an unidentified man, 68, were fatally injured during the accident on McGregor Boulevard near College Parkway, according to officials. Harold Burns, 75, and an unidentified woman, 62, both also from Cape Coral, were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital after sustaining critical injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Harold Burns was driving a Kia Sorento southbound on McGregor. Susan Burns and the two unidentified victims were passengers in his vehicle. At 5:35 p.m, Burns attempted to make a left-hand turn into Bridge Plaza, which is located just south of College.

Burns reportedly turned in front of a Ford F-350, driven by Jessica Orr, 38, of the Cape, that was traveling northbound on McGregor. The front of the Ford struck the right side of the Kia, and the Kia was pushed to the northeast, where the front of the vehicle then hit the front left of a Saturn L300.

The Saturn, driven by Graciela Ramos, 38, of the Cape, was waiting to exit the plaza.

Officials reported that Burns and the unidentified woman sustained critical injuries in the accident.

Neither Orr nor Ramos reported sustaining any injuries during the crash.

According to the FHP, Burns was wearing a seat belt at the time. However, it is unknown whether Susan Burns or the two unidentified passengers were wearing seat belts at the time.

It is reportedly unknown if the crash was alcohol related.
