Charter Review Commission to hold off-site meetings

By Staff | Apr 17, 2015

The Lee County Charter Review Commission, starting this month, will hold meetings in the various Board of County Commission districts rather than at its typical downtown Fort Myers location.

The Commission will meet in BoCC District 1 on at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Ida Baker High School, 3500 Agualinda Blvd., Cape Coral. Meeting attendees will gather in the Cafeteria. The Commission is seeking input from the public regarding any proposed amendments to the County Charter.

“We want to ensure citizens have access to the Commission, and we want input from across the county,” said Ed Volz, who was elected commission chair at its inaugural meeting March 11. That meeting and a subsequent meeting on March 26 happened at County Admin Bldg, adjacent to the Old Courthouse in downtown Fort Myers.

Future meeting locations will be announced soon. Find more information at www.leegov.com/charterreview/Pages/default.aspx.

The Lee County Charter Review Commission comprises 15 members appointed by Lee County Commissioners. They serve for 18 months with the purpose of reviewing the Home Rule Charter and proposing any amendments or revisions, which may be placed on the general election ballot.
